Upright Pianos
Upright Pianos have a neat footprint and deliver a surprisingly deep tone, especially in the lower registers. There are some beautiful uprights with a delightful tone and responsive touch, but you do need to chose carefully.
Avoid uprights with a tubby bass or percussive treble, as these will soon feel tonally inadequate. Yet, a mid-height upright (~120cm) can provide an enchanting tone, broad range and balanced action. Some full height uprights around 130cm can be exceptional, although these may be similar cost to a baby grand.
