Responding in particular to discerning players, the SU series feature true Yamaha craftsmanship in every aspect. Only carefully selected top-of-the-line materials are used for all the parts, including the hammer felts and piano wires, are the same as used in Yamaha’s world-renowned, flagship CFX concert grand piano. Moreover, throughout the final voicing and regulation, we spend more time than on other upright pianos, and skilled engineers balance the entire instrument. Through these tasks, we have achieved an accurate and agile response and a rich tone suitable for the flagship model.

The soundboard is effectively the sound source of the piano—it makes the strings audible—and because of its importance, we carefully selected the wood based on its sonic clarity and how accurately it conveys details in the resonance.

The SU series has also been designed and manufactured with special attention to the keyboard structure and the action mechanism, allowing the player to control and respond in detail to force and speed when playing the keys. By increasing the controllability of the piano, the SU series lets you truly play the sound as you want and feel.
