Yamaha B10 upright piano – new model!
The new Yamaha B Series was launched 25 April 2026 comprising B10, B20 and B30 with Silent and Transacoustic versions. Available in Polished Ebony, Polished White, Polished Ebony with Chrome and Polished White with Chrome.
Key features of the Yamaha B10
- Improved CFX‑derived hammers for pure, stable sound – the felt for the B‑Series hammers is processed using techniques from Yamaha’s flagship CFX concert grand. This maximises the felt’s elasticity, giving the B10 a clear, resonant tone with impressive sustain.
- Redesigned solid spruce soundboard and five back posts – Yamaha re‑engineered the soundboard to produce a spacious, balanced sound; five back posts prevent the crown from changing shape and support rich resonance.
- Precise, in‑house action and frame construction – every action part is manufactured by Yamaha to tolerances of 0.05 mm, resulting in a smooth, expressive touch. The frame is cast using Yamaha’s vacuum process to withstand over twenty tons of string tension and contribute to consistent tone.
- Improved cabinet design – the B10’s increased height (110 cm versus the outgoing B1’s 109 cm) allows a larger soundboard and longer bass strings, producing richer bass and a wider dynamic range. The case also features a wider full‑length music rest and a soft‑close fallboard for safe, quiet lid closing.
- Enhanced tone and playing feel – thanks to the upgraded hammers, reinforced cabinet and five‑back‑post construction, the B10 delivers a clearer, more balanced tone, improved sustain and better tuning stability. Players enjoy a responsive touch that invites expressive playing.
Yamaha B10 Sound and performance
Despite its compact size, the B10 offers clear treble, warm bass and impressive depth. The redesigned soundboard and carefully scaled construction give the piano a resonant, consistent tone across the keyboard. The new hammer design provides clarity and sustain, while the strong five‑post back and improved cabinet rigidity help maintain tuning stability and sustain. For learners and returning players, the responsive action makes it easy to develop good technique.
Why choose the Yamaha B10?
The B10 is more than just a small upright; it offers Yamaha quality and long‑term value. Its balanced tone, responsive action and reliable construction make it suitable for:
- Beginners and students learning proper technique – the responsive action encourages good habits.
- Families and returning players who need a space‑efficient instrument that still delivers rich acoustic sound.
- Teachers and schools seeking an affordable yet durable upright with consistent tone and tuning stability.
