TERMS AND CONDITIONS
ABOUT US
We are a family business and we genuinely care about the level of service you receive. When you deal with us, you are dealing directly with the partners in the business. May we reassure you that we have a strong nationwide reputation for first-class service, well established presence as a Yamaha specialist and excellent discounted prices. As piano technicians we can understand your needs and offer the most comprehensive technical advice without intimidation.
ORDERING, DEPOSITS AND FINAL PAYMENT
To order a piano we require a deposit from you of £500 by Debit card (Visa Debit or Maestro - formerly Switch). We will then allocate a piano from our stock or place a trade order to the manufacturer's distributor if we do not have available stock (you will be advised of the stock situation prior to us collecting your deposit). Your deposit is a part payment and is non-refundable (other than if an error is made on our part whereby we cannot supply the piano as agreed). We do not ask for full payment until a delivery date is confirmed and then payment is required by cleared funds in advance, preferably by Debit card on the last working day before delivery. Full ownership rights remain with Chris Venables Pianos until goods are paid for in full. Payment terms may be offered to recognised institutions at our discretion only.
As we have a proper showroom on 2 floors with well maintained stock for you to try in advance of delivery, we do not agree to any trial period, including change of mind for any reason, irrespective of whether or not you choose not to visit us and use our showroom facilities. If you place an order with us and pay a deposit, or make full payment, you are committing to purchase the ordered product at the agreed price (both will be confirmed on our invoice to you). This applies to a change of mind and not in the highly unlikely event of the piano being faulty, damaged or not as described on the invoice.

NATIONWIDE GUARANTEE
The guarantee is provided by the manufacturer. In the very unlikely event of a problem with your new piano, by using our national network of tuner technicians we can arrange for a prompt technical report on the problem from which we can liaise with the manufacturer to determine action required. If the problem is covered under guarantee then the technician can attend on site or we can arrange for collection if necessary. You will have a responsibility to ensure that the instrument is properly maintained and cared for. Neglect, misuse and exposure to excessive dryness or humidity may invalidate your guarantee. Full conditions of the guarantee are available on request.
PROBLEMS CAUSED BY HUMIDITY - IMPORTANT
When a new piano is installed into your premises, it may take 4-6 weeks for it to settle. The strings which are upon an iron frame exert a fair amount of down bearing onto the soundboard via the bridge. The soundboard is the resonating wooden diaphragm which is crowned (domed). When the level of humidity in the room increases the soundboard cannot expand outwards so will raise and increase string tension, and vice versa. Your piano will therefore require a tuning 4-6 weeks after delivery (allowing the soundboard to acclimatise with its new environment). However, the mechanical components within the piano, such as the keys, keybed/keyframe, action and hammers which may be lined with felt and leather, will absorb humidity and can cause sticking, slow and unresponsive play. It is highly unlikely that you will experience such problems, but it is important that you appreciate the affects humidity can have and understand that you are responsible for maintaining a suitable environment for your piano with a consistent level of humidity within the acceptable parameters of relative 50-60% (guide only - please consult your piano manufacturer's guide). If the piano suffers any problems with action performance or tuning stability that were not present within the first 3 months after delivery, it is most probably due to a fluctuation in humidity and the re-regulation or re-tuning as required is at your expense and is not covered by guarantee unless inspection by an independent piano technician reports that the problem is due to a fault with the design, workmanship or materials and not humidity fluctuation / excess humidity or dryness. This is a general guide only and does not constitute a guarantee or terms of a manufacturer's guarantee.
