October 2012 Marking Yamaha's 125 anniversary, the C5M has now been superseded by the completely new model Yamaha C5X featuring substantial refinements to the soundboard, ribs and beam design; music wire upgrade; soundboard upgrade; hammer felt upgrade. The result is a cleaner tone, improved sustain and projection with better clarity and depth. Performance and aesthetic features influenced by the incredible CF Premium concert pianos.
The Yamaha C5M grand piano is a subtle improvement over the hugely popular 6'1" C3M. The Yamaha C5 has a little more depth in the middle and lower registers.
The difference in price and the additional amount of space required to accommodate this piano, relative to the slight improvement in performance is quite possibly why the C5M is the 'odd one out' in the Conservatoire series.
However, if you cannot accommodate the 6'11" C6M and want more than the 6'1" C3M, this is the next best.
The Yamaha C5M grand is suitable for studio, recording, small halls, institutions and space permitting - the home.
