October 2012 Marking Yamaha's 125 anniversary, the C1M has now been superseded by the completely new model Yamaha C1X featuring substantial refinements being music wire upgrade; soundboard upgrade; hammer felt upgrade. The result is a cleaner tone, improved sustain and projection with better clarity and depth. Performance and aesthetic features influenced by the incredible CF Premium concert pianos.
If you cannot accommodate the C2M 5'8" (which is very close in price) then the Yamaha C1M is the best choice in build, component and performance quality for this size from the Yamaha grand piano range.
The Yamaha C1's middle register is nice and rounded with a clear and melodic treble. As recently as 2008, Yamaha redesigned their C series grand pianos with refinements especially influencial in the Yamaha C1M and C2M models. These pianos now feature Ivorite™/WPC keytops for a more natural keystroke and a vertically laminated bridge, incorporating maple and mahogany for a wider tone range with faster attack and a darker characteristic over the former specification solid maple bridge.
