New Venables & Son grand piano models launched!
The success of our 5' and 6'5" grand models has pressed us to introduce 2 mid size models to our Venables & Son grand piano range: The Academy-168 (5'6") and Academy-180 (5'10")

As with our Studio-152 5' baby grand and Custom-200 6'5" chamber grand, the new Academy grands feature polished birdseye maple inner rim, custom profile Abel hammers (walnut mouldings, underfelted, AA-Wurzen felt), Roslau piano wire, British Hainsworth keyboard cloth and felt, real wood sharps (keytops), premium solid quarter sawn spruce (Kölbl Austrian tonewood) soundboard, full duplex scaling and tone collectors.
These are high specification instruments with a warm, lyrical voice. The bass is warm and fundamental, tenor is dark and rounded, and the treble sings with a delicate bell-like clarity. Venables & Son pianos share these characteristics, ideally suited to those wanting a piano for a more intimate environment, chamber-work or vocal accompaniment.

International Concert Pianist to perform at 'Music for life'
Reiko Fujisawa will play Bach, Beethoven, Schubert and Albeniz at Dementia charity concert 'Music for life' St Michael's Highgate on Sat 3 July at 19:30 - 22:30
International concert pianist, Reiko Fujisawa, will be giving a recital in support of Music for Life, a charity that has pioneered interactive music workshops for people living with dementia.

Music for Life is a project that has pioneered and developed interactive, creative music workshop programmes for people living with dementia. Work takes place in residential homes, hospitals, extra care housing and day care centres. The project aims both to enhance the quality of life of its participants and to demonstrate to staff the emotional, social and physical potential of people in their care. Its focus is on people who can be isolated and disempowered as a result of the advanced stage of their dementia. 
Music for Life was founded by Linda Rose in 1993 and has been developed in association with Jewish Care and a growing team of musicians. Music for Life is now managed by Wigmore Hall in partnership with Dementia UK.

Kent "musicalthon" another big hit!
Piano teacher Janice Cook's annual "musicalthon" has so far raised £3,880 for Kent Autistic Trust this year.
Using her recently purchased Venables & Son Studio-120 upright piano, the 12 hour event was attended by 200 local musicians and their families.
Janice has so far raised £23,000 in 7 years!
